AVARI Capital expands to $1.5bn across three states

AVARI Capital has surpassed $1.5 billion in group assets under management (AUM) as it expands its platform across key Australian markets.
Growth in assets and staff
The firm said the milestone reflects continued investor demand for disciplined, real-estate-backed private credit strategies. Its investment process involves applying a private equity approach to real estate investing with a focus on identifying undervalued assets capable of delivering superior risk-adjusted returns. Founded in 2014, the company employs 22 staff across its offices in Sydney and Melbourne. It is now focused on expanding the business into other Australian markets with three strategic hires in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia. This expansion reflects AVARI’s continued investment in experienced people, local market relationships and disciplined origination capability as flexible private credit solutions continue to grow. The company’s ability to attract and retain top talent is a sign to its strong reputation and commitment to excellence in the industry.
Gary Louis has joined from NAB to lead AVARI’s origination efforts across WA and South Australia after most recently heading NAB’s commercial real estate lending portfolio in the two states for the last four years. He brings more than 25 years of experience across commercial real estate, private capital and strategic advisory. Louis’s extensive background in commercial real estate lending will be invaluable in identifying and pursuing new opportunities in the Western Australian and South Australian markets. His expertise will also enhance AVARI’s ability to provide tailored financing solutions to its clients.
AVARI has also hired Ash Kitchen from Macquarie to drive origination in Queensland. Bringing experience across property and corporate finance and banking, he previously served in roles at the Bank of New Zealand and Macquarie Group. Kitchen’s knowledge of the Queensland market and his network of contacts will be essential in identifying and pursuing new opportunities in the state. His experience in property and corporate finance will also enable him to provide expert advice to AVARI’s clients on complex financing transactions.
Finally, the firm has brought on Becki Gonsalves to lead its marketing and communications activity. As the company continues to expand its presence across Australian markets, effective marketing and communications will be key in raising awareness of AVARI’s brand and services. Gonsalves’s expertise in this area will help to promote the company’s unique value proposition and build strong relationships with its clients and stakeholders.

Strategic focus on national markets
Commenting on the achievement, partner and chief executive Alan Liao said the growth in AUM reflects the continued strengthening of AVARI’s platform and national capability. The company’s expansion into new markets is a strategic response to the growing demand for private credit solutions in Australia. By establishing a strong presence in key markets, AVARI is well-positioned to capitalize on new opportunities and provide its clients with access to a broader range of financing options.
“Surpassing $1.5 billion in group assets under management is an important milestone for the business, but it’s ultimately a reflection of the platform we’ve been building and the quality of the team behind it,” Liao said. The company’s success is a sign to the strength of its investment process and the expertise of its team. AVARI’s private equity approach to real estate investing has enabled it to identify undervalued assets and deliver superior risk-adjusted returns to its investors.
“Private credit is a relationship-driven business. Expanding our presence across key markets strengthens our access to opportunities and enhances our ability to structure and deploy capital with expert conviction and strengthens how we support both investors and borrowers.” The company’s focus on building strong relationships with its clients and stakeholders is critical to its success. By providing tailored financing solutions and expert advice, AVARI is able to add significant value to its clients’ businesses and help them achieve their goals.
As AVARI continues to expand its presence across Australian markets, it is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for private credit solutions. The company’s strong reputation, expertise, and commitment to excellence make it an attractive partner for investors and borrowers alike. With its experienced team and disciplined investment approach, AVARI is poised for continued growth and success in the Australian private credit market.
